U.S. based Hydro-Guard® has the solution for water quality issues—poor taste, odd color and odd smell—at the tap.

Hydro-Guard® Automatic and Programmable Flushing Systems are the ideal solution for areas in public and private water distribution systems where low demand leads to water aging in a water line. This often results in the water from the tap being discolored or the water may have an odd taste or small. If you have experienced such issues as these, contact your local water utility and request that they consider installing an automatic flushing system manufactured by US-based Hydro-Guard®.

Hydro-Guard® is the leading solution provider for water utilities throughout the world for water quality management. There are more than 7,000 Hydro-Guard brand automatic and programmable flushing systems in operation in the U.S. and Canada.

The Hydro-Guard® is specifically designed for year round operation, even in the severest of weather conditions. Additionally, the Hydro-Guard® can help your water utility save more than $7,000 and 180.,000 gallons of water annually per site.

Hydro-Guard® Automatic Flushing Systems for Municipal Water Utilities

Hydro-Guard® offers a variety of automatic and programmable flushing systems that are designed to allow municipal water utilities to flush the water lines that carry drinking (potable) water from the water treatment plant to homes and businesses like yours on a regularly scheduled basis.

The use of these devices, if used properly, can improve the quality of water delivered to you. If you are experiencing water from your tap that is discolored, has a poor taste, or has an unusual smell, you may want to contact your local utility and suggest they look into the technology offered by Hydro-Guard®. These symptoms are often characteristic of biofilm buildup in the water line, a condition that can be managed if the water lines are flushed more frequently.

However, flushing more frequently can be expensive for your local utility. To do so, they have to send crews out to flush the water lines using fire hydrants that are located near the trouble spot in the distribution system. When you factor in the cost of a one or two person crew, a company vehicle, and gas to operate the vehicle, you can see how costly such a call to fix a water quality problem can be. Now, factor in the cost of flushing anywhere from 300 gallons of water per minute to 1,500 gallons of water per minute, especially when most communities are already enduring drought conditions, and you have a very costly situation for the utility.

With Hydro-Guard®, which in most cases can offer the utility a complete return on its investment within 280 days, your water utility would not have to send a crew to a site to flush from a fire hydrant for an hour or more. And, with Hydro-Guard® the flush duration could drop to approximately 15 minutes per day, three to five days per week. Furthermore, Hydro-Guard® units only flush 135 to 150 gallons per minute. So if you do the math, it is not hard to see why utilities across the U.S. and Canada have turned to the automatic and programmable flushing capabilities offered by Hydro-Guard®. These utilities are saving tens of thousands, and in some cases, millions of dollars annually simply by automating the required flushing process (a process that prevents water from becoming stagnant in the water line, especially at the dead-end or cul-de-sac).
